Dr. Capostagno received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He did a residency in Pediatrics at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the City of Hope in Duarte, California, and a fellowship in Pediatric Oncology and Cancer Immunology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He then served as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and published several papers, characterizing unusual variants of chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
In 1979, he started training in Radiation Oncology at U.C.L.A. Upon completion he became the founder and owner of a Radiation Oncology Center in Merced, California. After 18 years, he joined the faculty of the U.C Davis Radiation Oncology Department, splitting his time between the main university department and of of the university's Community Cancer Outreach Centers. He then joined 21st Century in the fall of 2006.
Dr. Capostagno is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology, a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology and past President of the Northern California Radiation Oncology Society. In his former community he has served as Chairman of Radiology, Hospital Chief of Staff, and was a delegate to the California Medical Society for over 10 years.
