Dr. Chaundré K. Cross

 

Chaundré K. Cross, M.D. graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas at Southwestern. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Texas. Dr. Cross graduated from the residency at the Joint Center for Radiation Therapy at Harvard Medical School which included the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Beth Israel Deaconness Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Children's Hospital of Boston. He was elected chief resident of his residency, where he served his program for one year.

Dr. Cross has attended and spoken at many national conferences. His research during residency was in lung, breast, and prostate cancer. He has several publications as first author in well-recognized oncology journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer, and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology. Specifically, his research involved economic inequalities in breast cancer treatment, epidemiology of breast cancer in lower socioeconomic groups, optimization of palliative treatment for lung cancer, and challenging the perception of prostate cancer in minority patients. He served as a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Oncology during his residency.

As well, during his residency, Dr. Cross reviewed and presented on new strategies and improvements on treating the prostate that included intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), prostate immobilization, optimal dose fractionation for prostate cancer, and prostate localization techniques. He is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Dr. Cross has received his training by many of the experts in the field for a variety of cancers including breast, prostate, sarcoma, pediatrics, lung, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, central nervous system, and lymphoma. He is joining 21st Century Oncology in order to continue practicing excellence in medicine. This is afforded by the practice utilizing the latest technologies in radiation therapy which include high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR), prostate seed implantation, stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), mammosite, and intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT).
