Michael
C. Hanus, M.D., attended the University of New Mexico where
he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
with a subspecialty in Biomedical Engineering. While at
the University of New Mexico, he also was a member of the
Men's NCAA Division I Varsity Soccer Team.
Dr.
Hanus earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas
School of Medicine and then completed his internship at
the University of Hawaii. Following his medical training,
Dr. Hanus performed his residency at the University of Texas,
M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is board
certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of
Radiology.
During
his training, Dr. Hanus has been actively involved in multiple
areas of research. In medical school, he was involved in
neuro-imaging research of various neuro-degenerative diseases
(Alzheimer's and Parkinson's) utilizing computer-generated
three-dimensional brain reconstruction's.
At M.D.
Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Hanus was involved in both clinical
and basic science research. He worked in the microbiology
laboratory investigating the relationship between various
chemotherapeutic agents and their effect on gene therapy
for lung cancer.
Dr.
Hanus also has published professional journal articles,
given lectures and presentations at national oncology meetings
on topics including prostate, breast, and lung cancer.
He is a member of the American College of Radiation
Oncology (ACRO).
