About Us 

Dr. Hejal Patel, M.D.

Dr. Patel was born and raised in Auburn, Alabama, and graduated summa cum laude at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. During his undergraduate years, he performed cancer research investigating tumor suppressor genes. He received many awards including the prestigious USA Today All-USA College Academic First Team, an elite ranking as one of the top 20 college students in the United States. He earned his medical degree from the University Of Alabama School of Medicine with honors.

Dr. Patel completed his post-graduate training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Louisville and was named chief resident in both his junior and senior year of training. While in residency he held many leadership positions including President of the House Staff Council. He has numerous publications in his field and has presented at multiple meetings. Dr. Patel is a member of numerous medical societies including the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS). He holds medical licenses in both Alabama and Florida.

Dr. Patel's extensive training includes the use of the state-of-the-art Varian Trilogy System as well as TomoTherapy-based treatment. He is also trained in sterotactic radiosurgery, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), respiratory gating, gynecological brachytherapy, MammoSite breast brachytherapy, and prostate brachytherapy. Special interests include prostate, breast and lung cancers. He has joined 21st Century Oncology in Dothan, AL and Opp, AL.
