Vladimir
Ioffe received his undergraduate education at the University
of Maryland graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor
of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology. During
his undergraduate experience, he played varsity tennis
and received the scholar athlete award for academic excellence.
Dr. Ioffe was named the outstanding student in the biochemistry
department and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist from the University
of Maryland. He received his medical degree from the University
of Maryland School of Medicine. While still a medical student,
Dr. Ioffe was a leading advocate for the prevention of
smoking among young adults and helped create state medical
policy supporting a smoke free Maryland. He was awarded
the American Medical Association’s leadership award
in recognition of his public health advocacy efforts.
Dr. Ioffe completed
his training in radiation oncology at the Eastern Virginia
Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr. Ioffe is passionate about improving the treatment of
cancer patients thus strongly supports clinical research.
He is the first author of five investigational papers and
co-authored an additional three works. Dr. Ioffe has presented
his research work at major scientific meetings across the
nation. Additionally, Dr. Ioffe was instrumental in the
creation and implementation of the intensity modulated
radiation therapy program for head and neck malignancies.
Dr. Ioffe has special expertise in stereotactic radiosurgery
for brain metastases, head and neck cancer, breast cancer,
thyroid cancer, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and thoracic
malignancies.
As a physician with 21st Century Oncology on the Maryland
Eastern Shore, Dr. Ioffe is dedicated to the creation of
a comprehensive cancer center of excellence offering the
most advanced technology as well as meticulous, individualized
care for each patient.
Dr. Ioffe was born in St. Petersburg, Russia. His family
immigrated to the United States in 1980 when he was 6 years
old. He grew up in Baltimore County, Maryland and is an
American citizen. Dr. Ioffe is married to Kecia Ioffe and
they have four children.
