Dr. Lieberfarb graduated from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Biology in 1990. He then enrolled in the
National Institutes of Health-sponsored
Medical Scientist Training Program at the State
University of New York at Stony Brook, where
he received his Ph.D. in Molecular
Pharmacology (1996) and his medical degree
(1998). He completed an internship in
Internal Medicine at Mt. Auburn Hospital, a
Harvard Medical School affiliate in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, and then trained
in Radiation Oncology at the Joint Center for
Radiation Therapy at Harvard Medical School,
which included the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital,
Beth Israel-Deaconness Hospital, and the
Children's Hospital of Boston. He is Board
Certified in Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Lieberfarb has written and published
numerous basic-science and medical oncology
articles in well-recognized, peer-reviewed
journals such as Science, Cancer Research,
and the International Journal of Radiation
Oncology, Bilogy, Physics. He has attended
and presented his findings at major national
meetings. Examples of Dr. Lieberfarb's medical
research include a genetic analysis of prostate
cancer as well as several clinical contributions
to the medical management of prostate cancer.
Having received training by national experts
in Radiation Oncology during his residency,
Dr. Lieberfarb can treat a variety of cancers,
including prostate, breast, lung, gastrointestinal,
and gynecologic tumors. He is well
trained in the latest cutting edge technologies
in radiation therapy such as Intensity
Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), high
dose rate (HDR) afterloading brachytherapy,
Mammo-Site(r) partial breast irradiation,
prostate seed implantation, and stereotactic
radiosurgery (SRS).
Dr. Lieberfarb holds membership in a variety
of national professional societies, including
the American Society for Therapeutic
Radiology and Oncology, American College of
Radiation Oncology, Radiological Society of
North American and American College of Radiology.
