Dr. Lingos graduated from Wellesley
College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Biology and received her M.D. from the
University of Massachusetts Medical School She
completed an internship in Internal Medicine at
Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. and
continued her training as a resident in Radiation
Oncology at the Massachusetts General Hospital
(MGH) where she was selected to be the Chief
Resident in her final year of training.
Following her training, Dr. Lingos remained a
staff member at the MGH Department of
Radiation Oncology while also serving as the
Associate Director of Radiation Oncology at the
Cape and Island Radiation Therapy Center in
Hyannis, MA. Dr. Lingos then joined the
Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy and
was instrumental in starting the Department of
Radiation Oncology at the Framingham Union
Hospital/Metrowest Medical Center in
Framingham, MA. At the same time, Dr. Lingos
was a member of the Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute Breast Evaluation Clinic. Dr. Lingos
devoted much of her time to the care She published
an influential paper regarding radiationinduced
pneumonitis in women treated with
radiation therapy for early-stage breast cancer
which revealed the low risk of pneumonitis
using modern techniques. Dr. Lingos was selected
to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) -
Division of Extramural Activities Special Review
Board for Breast Cancer Education Initiatives in
1993.
Dr. Lingos accepted a post as the Medical
Director for South Suburban Oncology Center in
Quincy, MA in 1995, while maintaining her academic
appointment at Harvard Medical School.
She continued to enroll patients on national clinical
research protocols, including trials carried out
under the auspices of the Radiation Therapy
Oncology Group (RTOG), Cancer and Acute
Leukemia Group B (CALGB) and the National
Surgical Breast and Colon Group (NSABP) while
developing a successful freestanding radiation
center in Quincy, MA. Dr. Lingos has provided
valued organizational services in her roles as
President of the New England Society of
Radiation Oncology, Board of Directors,
American Cancer Society, South Middlesex Unit,
and an organizer of Boston's first Race for a Cure.
She was selected as one of the 300 Best Doctors
in Boston by Boston Magazine in 1997.
Dr. Lingos joined Radiation Therapy Services, Inc.
in September 2005 as Medical Director of Roger
Williams Radiation Therapy.
