Scott Robers, M.D., was born and raised in Northern Virginia just outside Washington, D.C.. He attended the Univeristy of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, and obtained his BA degree in biology. He next attended eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, and completed his medical degree in 1985.
Dr.Roberts held a great interest in the study of oncogenes in the etiology of cancer, and obtained an NIH grant to work was a research fellow at the University of Virgina for one year. During that time, he studied the impact of viral infections on the genetic expression of lymphomas in mice.
He then continued his medical training by attending a four year residency program in radiation Oncology at eh University of Virginia.
His training included all areas encompassed under Radiation Oncology with emphasis on head and neck malignancies, lymphomes, sarcomes, and gynecologic malignanncies. At the end of his residency training, Dr.Roberts successfully passed his board examination for board certification.
From 1990 through 2002, Dr.Roberts enjoyed twelve years of private practice, mostly in Richmond, Virginia. He then obtained an academic position at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was responsible for training residents. He was the Radiation Oncology representative to the departments of Urology, General Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology. He joined 21st century Oncology in September, 2003.
Dr. Roberts is married to Susie Roberts and has three children. He is grateful to God to have faith and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.
