Michael D. Stambaugh, M.D. received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry and Physics from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania . He earned a Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia . After medical school, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine, followed by a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He maintains active licenses in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania .
Upon completion of his training, he joined the West Jersey Cancer Center in Voorhees in New Jersey . Since that time, he became the Medical Director of the center and under his direction, expanded the program to include the South Jersey Cancer Center in Woodbury , New Jersey .
Prior to joining 21 st Century Oncology he served as the Administrative and Medical Directors of these centers, under these names, expanded the clinical program into a regional network know as Radiation Oncology of Southern New Jersey.
He has served as the Clinical Director of the Fox Chase Cancer Program at the Voorhees Center during that time.
He is a member of the consulting staffs on several local hospital systems and a member of several local and national organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American College of Radiation Oncology, the New Jersey Medical Society and the Camden County Medical Society.
He has maintained an active interest in research and participates as a registered member in National Cancer Institute and ECOG sponsored trials.
He has authored several publications in national journals, as well as, publication of a chapter on the treatment of ovarian cancer in the recent edition of a nationally recognized textbook in Radiation Oncology. He has presented several abstracts and articles at national meetings.
