Condition: Bloating and Fullness

Ask your doctor for help in finding the most effective medication regimen to prevent or control bloating and fullness.

  • It is important to maintain your weight by choosing high-calorie foods and foods that are rich in nutrients.
  • Chew foods more slowly.
  • Limit the amount of fluids you drink with your meals.  Liquids tend to make you feel full.
  • Do not fill up on low-calorie drinks such as coffee, tea or diet soda.
  • If able, take a walk to get a little exercise.
  • Decreased activity.
  • Gulping of air into stomach along with food.
  • Eating gassy foods.
  • Slowed movements of food through the intestine due to medications or treatment.  (see notation above)
  • Avoid fatty or greasy foods.  Fats tend to stay in the stomach longer, giving a feeling of fullness.
  • Avoid carbonated beverages and chewing gum.
